06 Mar Meet Our Team: Yu Teshima, Student Liaison

Welcome…Yu Teshima, Student Liaison

Much of the region’s growth is driven by our post-secondary institutions and the OYP Collective has always maintained a strong connection with Okanagan College and UBC Okanagan.

A force on campus, Yu Teshima is the OYP Collective’s first Student Liaison.

As an international student from Japan, Yu is currently in her third year in the Faculty of Management at UBCO.

In her role, Yu will promote the OYP on campus at both UBCO and Okanagan College and identifies opportunities to connect students to the business community.

How long have you lived in the Okanagan?

  • I moved here when I started the undergraduate program in Management at UBC Okanagan in September 2016

How did you end up in the Okanagan?

  • I wanted to live in a smaller city with nature, and my mother randomly found a blog post about Kelowna and I fell in love with this beautiful city!

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?

    • Camping with friends
    • Grabbing ice cream downtown and walking to the beach
    • Kelowna wines (although I don’t drink much)

What do you love most about living in the Okanagan?

  • The hot and dry summer

    • Meeting like-minded students from Okanagan College and UBCO
  • Using my passion to engage more students to participate in and see the value of networking and extra-curricular activities
