In 2015, Mayor Colin Basran was dubbed “Mayor Sugarplum” after approving the city’s first rainbow crosswalk. Mayor Basran’s acceptance lead to the creation of OYP Sugarplum Ball, which strives to celebrate and embrace diversity in our community.
This year, the Okanagan Young Professionals and Okanagan Pride Society will be hosting its 3rd annual OYP Sugarplum Ball on July 7th, 2018 at the Rotary Centre for the Arts at 7:00pm.
Young people want to be part of a progressive community and this event highlights just that. OYP Sugarplum Ball is about promoting inclusivity and acceptance.
This year’s theme is Flappers & Fedora’s, so get out your 1920’s inspired outfits and come out for a night of fun! Since acceptance and encouraging an all-inclusive community is the crux of our event, we encourage you to dress up or dress down as much as you want.
This year is going to be bigger than ever! We will be featuring multiple parties, a drag show, local celebrities, DJ Invisible, 2 food trucks, more than 10 local craft beer, cider and wine providers and even more surprises!
This event is open to absolutely everyone!
