29 May Local Enactus Students win national awards
Idealistic, unrealistic, unreasonable millennials are succeeding at being idealistic, dedicated and recognized for transforming the lives of our community.
This year our 2 local Enactus teams took home national awards from one of the top post-secondary competitions in the world.
Students from Okanagan College won the 2017 Capital One® Financial Education Challenge National Champion award against the top schools in the country. It is important to underscore that this competition is fierce across the entire country and our local team won the best financial literacy project in the country.
Okanagan College was the only institution to win first and second-place national titles, as well as being awarded Top Campus administration for the support the school offers to the team in enabling these students to drive community change.
OC alumnus Drew Vincent was recognized with a national award as the Top Alumni Over 30 for his work with both Okanagan College and UBC Okanagan teams.
UBC Okanagan Enactus students launched their team this year, quickly getting some great projects going and hitting the ground running. The team won the Hellman’s Best Project Solution award for their food security project proposal and received the Enactus National Competition Opening Round Runner-Up Award and the National Rookie Champion award as the best new team in Canada. Eric Anala, President, also was recognized with the founders bursary and a cash prize.
The 2017 Enactus Canada National Exposition welcomed 1,500 delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals and top Canadian CEOs supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition, and education.
