January is a challenging month for mental health, let alone in a pandemic. Wednesday, Jan. 26 marks the 12th annual Bell Let's Talk day, so with Mental Health Awareness top of mind, we wanted to highlight some mental health advocates and resources in the Central Okanagan.

YMCA Mind Programs

Everyone experiences worries and anxiety. The key is to learn how to make sure these don’t get in the way of doing things you care about! YMCA's Mindfulness program is a free 7-week support group for young adults ages 18–30 who experience anxiety.

Social enterprise You Are Collective designs quality apparel with mental health messages. Proceeds from each sale to help support non-profits and free counselling sessions, and partner with local mental health champions on collections.

The he. app, created by Kelowna's Candace and Mike Chisholm, is fitness redefined for the mental, emotional, physical, social and soulful wellbeing of every man and includes a community forum where you can safely share without the stigma.

Winter courses have launched on Discovery College, a Canadian Mental Health Association - Kelowna program that helps support your well-being through learning - including online workshops in resilience and boundaries.
